Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik said on the 6th, regarding the surge in oil prices following the U.S. attack on Iran,
“I am also pleased to deliver the good news that crude oil will be purchased from the UAE.”
He added, “Following President Lee Jae-myung’s directive, we discussed ways to import crude oil, and as a result, the emergency import of more than 6 million barrels of crude oil has been confirmed.” (Editor’s note)

Let us make the facts clear.

It is being portrayed as if Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik of the presidential offic eplayed the role of a problem-solver who prevented the surge in oil prices caused by the U.S.–Iran conflict this time.
That is how they are advertising it.

That is not the case.

During his presidency, President Yoon Suk-yeol personally flew to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and concluded a mutual investment and cooperation agreement, and also promised to supply the Cheongung missile system.

Based on the trust secured through that agreement, it was decided that Korea would provide crude-oil storage facilities for UAE oil in Korea free of charge, and in return Korea would obtain priority purchasing rights to that oil in times of crisis.
It began with 2 million barrels and was later expanded with a promise to increase it to 4 million barrels.

The 4 million barrels that Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik is now talking about is exactly that amount.
It did not fall from the sky.

No matter how shameless one may be, how can they fail to mention even a single word about Yoon Suk-yeol?

And what about the People Power Party, which simply lets this pass?
Are they afraid that talk of “Yoon Again” might arise?

Setting aside loyalty, they lack even the basic decency expected of human beings.
In a country where shame and moral duty have been turned upside down, my heart collapses in frustration.
