To mark the 2026 Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day, a global matching event titled “Online Speed Date,” bringing together one million singles from around the world, will be held for the first time ever by a South Korean matchmaking company. (Due to an administrative order issued by Jongno-gu Office officials—such as requiring the announcement of an event throughout the entire month of February—the Valentine’s Day online matching event for one million participants was postponed by one month to White Day.)
The world has changed dramatically, and behind this transformation lies someone’s business vision and passion.
Global matching platform Couple.net announced that it will host a Valentine’s Day online speed dating event with the participation of one million singles worldwide, describing it as “an opportunity for singles to find a special connection in celebration of Valentine’s Day.”
The event is designed to allow singles around the globe to meet their potential “destined partner” through the innovative method of online dating, transcending national borders and language barriers.
Lee Woong-jin, CEO of Couple.net, said, “This event was made possible based on 34 years of know-how from more than 800 matchmakers, seven matching-related patents, data from 47,000 married or dating couples, and analysis of 100,000 matching cases.”
He added, “If traditional matchmakers match about 30 couples a day, it would take 790,000 years to match the world’s population. With AI matching, however, Couple.net can instantly recommend one-on-one meetings for up to 4 billion pairs.”
Currently, Couple.net provides services in Korean, English, Chinese (simplified and traditional), and Japanese, with members registered from more than 150 countries worldwide. The upcoming Valentine’s Day online speed dating event for one million participants is also open to all singles, regardless of nationality, race, or culture.
Participation is simple. By registering a profile on Couple.net by February 8 and setting preferences such as age, occupation, religion, and location, participants will receive AI-based recommendations of two to ten potential matches between February 10 and 16.
Participants can send or receive meeting requests to those they are interested in, and when both sides mutually accept, contact information can be exchanged with up to three matches. The participation fee is $30.
A Couple.net official explained, “With a profile verification system in place, the event attracts trustworthy singles and is premised on serious relationships rather than casual dating. Unlike typical dating apps, participants can thoroughly review potential partners based on a wide range of personal information and receive more precise, customized recommendations through our AI matching algorithm.”
The official added, “Contact information is shared only when there is mutual consent, ensuring a safe and reliable meeting. This is a great opportunity for lonely singles to find meaningful connections through a trustworthy matching platform.”
