Actor Myung Kye-nam (74), a former chairman of the pro-Roh Moo-hyun supporters’ groupNosamo, was appointed governor of Hwanghae Province on the 2nd. He was one of the entertainers who officially declared support forLee Jae-myung during the last presidential election.
The Hwanghae provincial governor is a vice-minister–level government position recommended by the Minister of the Interior and Safety and appointed by the president. The annual salary is about 145 million won.
Myung, who had strongly revealed his political leanings as a pro-Roh figure, reportedly faced financial difficulties after the change of administration when casting offers for films and television dramas dried up. At one point he even appeared in advertisements for the loan company Rush & Cash, reportedly due to financial hardship. (Editor’s note)
I respect President Lee Jae-myung.
He takes meticulous care of people connected to him, including his own lawyers, making sure they can make a living. That is why they remain loyal.
To maintain power and grow politically, one must be good at this. In a world where people live together, it is unavoidable. Within the bounds of legality, you must do everything you can.
Whether it is a dictatorial power or a democratic one, the essence does not change. That is simply the nature of human beings and power.
Lee Jae-myung is truly a born politician. He even gave positions to figures who once opposed him—former lawmaker Park Yong-jin and conservative-leaning former professor Lee Byung-tae.
Yoon Suk-yeol, on the other hand, took care only of his former subordinates from the prosecution, which eventually caused trouble. Park Geun-hye failed even to take proper care of her own people and ultimately became isolated.
